Roof Time!

Tar-Papering the addition roof. In my defense, the garage is steeper than it looks :)

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a roof!!! Many many many many many thanks to my brother-in-law Arric who brought a crew from his roofing/siding job to help us get it done this week.
I’m not scared of heights, I just don't like falling.
Therefore, but I DO NOT envy the roofers one tiny teeny little bit.

Earlier last week I helped Jonathan tar-paper the addition roof which is much less scary than the house roof. As Jonathan was hopping around like a monkey, I was “white-knuckled” practically crawling around trying to keep myself on the roof. It actually wasn’t too bad until it got dark and then we had to set up flood lights that would blind us every time we tried to walk anywhere. It was exciting to say the least.

The whole roofing crew (including Arric, Will and Jonathan) are amazing! Not only did they stay on the roof, they were actually able to WORK up there and get the job done!  I am SO THANKFUL that the success of the roof was not up to me. Let’s just say I would still be working on it… for a few years :)

Jonathan, Will and Arric also finished covering the garage walls, cut in the garage windows and doors, and INSTALLED the windows and doors along the back of the garage. It is SO fun to actually see it taking shape!!

In other house news… WE STARTED PRIMING!!!!!!!!! YAHOOO!!!! As many of you know, the “promise of paint” has been dangling over my head like an unreachable carrot for quite some time. My sister Beck and I bit the bullet and prepped, cleaned, organized, and primed the first bedroom! I know one bedroom doesn’t seem like a lot, but Rome wasn’t built in a day either. I’m excited to just have STARTED the process. My old roommates are playing “farm house painting crew” with me this weekend so hopefully we will have more success to share!

With the majority of the addition complete (walls and roof up before snow!), we’re hoping things inside will start to get done pretty quickly! I will post more pictures as mountains are moved :)

Bye bye old shingles!
We still had cedar shakes under the old shingles, so there was a lot of demo that happened.
Working LATE to get it covered!!

New plywood (because there wasn't any under the cedar shakes)

First shingles. Yes... the crew is tied to the chimney with those ropes!
TaDa!!!! Isn't is PRETTY??? I LOVE IT!!!!
Jonathan and Arric working on the "eyebrows" for the garage.
Check out the garage windows and doors cut in!
Very FIRST strokes!!!! YAY!!!!!

Enjoying the spoils of the ice cream machine at Cub and Will's.
What could be better!?? :)
